Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are you accepting new students?
I generally have a few openings. If you have some flexibility in your schedule, we can usually find a way for it to work.

Where are you located on Long Island?
Our voice and guitar lesson studios are located in Bellmore, Nassau County.

Do you offer beginner lessons?
Yes. Before beginning, we ask our guitar students to commit to daily practicing and to accept the effort and time it takes to become a proficient guitar player.

What lesson times do you have available?
Lessons are offered Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 - 9:30 PM and Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM. Lessons are weekly.

Right now, I'm completely frustrated with my level of guitar playing. Can lessons make me decent?
Absolutely. Keep in mind, some students have fewer challenges than others. However, if you consistantly follow a clear plan built around your goal, as well as put in the necessary time nd effort, you can get to where you want to be musically.

Do you offer individual lessons or do you have to sign up for a whole course?
There is no commitment beyond week-to-week. Each lesson is individual, although we do cover a unit of material every four to six lessons.

Do you come to people's homes?
Sorry, lessons are offered only at our studio in Bellmore, Nassau County.

When are lesson payments due, week-to-week, or by the month?
Lesson payment is due each week at the start of each lesson.

Are there packages available?
Lesson fees apply to the half hour increment. There are no package discounts.

I've tried calling a few times but I continue to get your outgoing voice message. What is the best time to call you?
We don't answer the phone while teaching so it is important that you leave a message when you call. I will return your call as soon as I get a break so please indicate the best times to reach you.

At what age can children begin your guitar program?
Seven years old - depending on the child's attention span and physical ability to hold an instrument. We find that students around this age are more likely to succeed when parents are involved in the lesson and for at home practicing.

I would like to buy a gift certificate for someone who I know would want guitar lessons and I think has a lot of potential. How many lessons would make a good start?
Lessons are paid weekly at each session so, you may choose to purchase a gift certificate for anywhere from one up to ten sessions, depending on your budget.

I'm looking to break into the music business but I feel that I don't sound professional yet. Why?
Professional guitar players have specific skill sets. These are in areas such as technique, repertoire, composition, knowledge of chords and scales, ensemble playing, reading music (sometimes), muscle coordination, speed, agility and stamina as well as knowing the fretboard. These skills enable a guitarist to sound professional and thrive in a professional environment. These are the same skills you will learn at your lesson and then apply for your home practice.

The guitar player in my band has potential, but needs guitar lessons. How do I convince him/her to come to you?
Musicians need to be self motivated to study guitar, practice and to work at improving their overall musicianship. Since the only control we have is with ourselves, you can help by focusing on improving your musicianship. Your progress as a musician might even inspire your guitar player to step-up his/her game.

I am interested in both voice and guitar lessons. Who should I contact?
Call us at (516) 221-3095 and leave a message indicating that you are interested in both guitar and voice lessons. Or email us.
